If you’re using Windows Server 2003 as a simple file server in a workgroup and you receive a dreaded “Login failure: an unknown user or network password” error message when you try to access the shares, be sure the date and time on the 2003 server are correct. This simple fix, crazy as it sounds, will probably fix the problem.
