Changing file associations in Windows 7

If you click a WAV file and Windows 7 tries to open it with the wrong application, you have a file association issue. In such a case, you need to tell Windows 7 which program should open the file.

To change file associations, click Start, and type "associations," without quotation marks. Then click the "Change the file type associated with a file extension" entry.

In the resulting dialog box, simply find the file type, select it, and click Change program. Then choose the program you want to open the file.
